On October 25th, the Azerbaijan Tourism Board celebrated the inauguration of its new office in Moscow, marked by a ceremony featuring prominent figures from both the Azerbaijani and Russian tourism industries, along with influential government representatives and business partners.

The Moscow office was launched with the goal of bolstering ties with Russian tourism entities, raising awareness of Azerbaijan’s travel destinations, and stepping up promotional efforts across Russia. This new hub will direct marketing efforts, coordinate events, and collaborate closely with travel agencies and media channels. It is expected to foster valuable relationships with commercial tourism enterprises and government bodies, thereby boosting the influx of Russian visitors to Azerbaijan. Distinguished attendees included Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan; Rahman Mustafayev, Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia; Dmitry Vakhrukov, Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development; Vyacheslav Manuylov, Deputy Head of Moscow’s Department for External Economic and International Relations; and Emin Agalarov, a notable entrepreneur and President of Agalarov Development.

Fuad Nagiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of Azerbaijan, highlighted the importance of the Moscow office for bolstering bilateral cooperation in tourism. In his address, he noted, “I am confident that the launch of our Moscow office marks a new phase in the development of cooperation between our countries in this field. Our tourism relations have a longstanding tradition, and their growth is driven by the focused attention our heads of state devote to this sector.”

The event highlighted the crucial role of tourism in enhancing bilateral relations and opened discussions on future collaborations. Participants also discussed further strategies to enrich tourism connections between Russia and Azerbaijan.

Presently, Azerbaijan Airlines along with Russian airlines maintain robust air links to several Azerbaijani cities, ensuring constant air travel between the nations. From January to September 2024, Azerbaijan recorded a 18% increase from the previous year in Russian tourist arrivals, totaling 564,008 visitors. Factors such as visa-free access, frequent flights, and a positive tourism trajectory suggest that the number of visitors will continue to rise.
